The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) is mourning the loss of Elder Elizabeth “Sally” Roberts.

A media release issued Friday states Roberts was a respected leader who dedicated her life to the service of Grandmother’s Bay and the LLRIB. She was a former member of the Council of Elders, she served on the school board for many years and she worked as a community health representative.

Roberts dedication extended to numerous boards and committees, reflecting a lifetime of community service.

“Elder Sally Roberts embodied the values of service, strength and love for her community,” said Chief Tammy Cook-Season.

“Her tireless efforts touched countless lives in Grandmother’s Bay and across the LLRIB. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire us all. On behalf of LLRIB, I extend my deepest condolences to her family, friends and all who knew her.”

A wake service will begin at 5 p.m. on Jan. 3 at Nihithow Awashish School in Grandmother’s Bay. The funeral service will be held on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church.

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band extends its sympathies to all those mourning her loss.
