Two facing charges after guns seized in Southend

RCMP have seized firearms in Southend and charged two individuals as a result.

An RCMP media release states on March 21 at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from several divisions executed a search warrant at residence on Atikosakahikan Street in Southend. They arrested six individuals – three adult males and three adult females – at the location.

While searching the residence, police located and seized a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle and ammunition. As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Jonie Michel and 20-year-old Pierre Morin have each been charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited firearm.

Michel is also facing two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition when prohibited, and Morin is facing three counts of failing to comply with release order condition. Both individuals made their first appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on March 24.
