The Saskatchewan Roughriders were one of four CFL clubs to receive fines for exceeding the league’s salary cap.

The CFL said the Riders, B.C. Lions, Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Redblacks all exceeded the league’s salary cap of $5.525 million in 2024. Saskatchewan was over the cap by $40,121, and will face a fine as a result. The CFL did not reveal the exact sum the team will need to pay.

Toronto was over the cap by $87,103, while Ottawa was over by $22, 914.

B.C. had to forfeit two picks (eighth and 17th overall) after exceeding the cap by $347,889. The Calgary Stampeders, who have the highest waiver priority, will now pick in those spots instead.
