New Air Ronge bridge officially opens for traffic

A new bridge in Air Ronge has officially opened for traffic.

The new $15.8 million bridge that spans the Montreal River officially opened for traffic on Wednesday. An email to larongeNOW from the Ministry of Highways states while there are no plans for future lane closures on the new bridge, speed may be reduced to complete remaining work such as installing guardrails and a lookout area at the pedestrian walkway, as well as the removal of the existing bridge and existing approaches.

“The intention was to open the new bridge at the end of October,” the email noted.

“Unfortunately, rain, contractor equipment breakdown and [not] enough sustained warm fall weather to pave properly all contributed to the new bridge opening in November.”
