Many events scheduled for the lead up to Christmas

With Christmas less than one month away, there are plenty of upcoming events to get into the holiday spirit.

On Nov. 29, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band will be hosting an event called Christmas at Kitsaki from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kitsaki Hall. Families will be able to make personalized Christmas ornaments, wreaths, and more.

The Town of La Ronge also has several upcoming events starting on Nov. 29 with holiday wreath making. It will be held at the curling lounge at the Mel Hegland Uniplex from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is a free program, all supplies are included and it is for ages 12 and up.

A Community Christmas Party will be held Dec. 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mel Hegland Uniplex. It will include Christmas treats, face painting, sleigh rides and a craft table. A special guest will arrive at 5:45 p.m.

Christmas cookie decorating will take place at the curling lounge on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. It is a free event, all supplies are included and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Residents will have the opportunity to take a photo with Santa on Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the curling lounge. There will be cookies and juice, and attendees will receive an electronic photo on a memory stick.

In addition, there are several community sales coming up starting with the Morningstar Christmas Faire at the Kikinahk Friendship Centre on Nov. 29. It will occur from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a canteen will be provided by the Churchill Chargers.

The La Ronge Seniors Centre will host a sale on Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That will include a hot lunch of soup and sandwiches, as well as a fish pond for all ages.

Another sale will be held at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for the homeless shelter.
