Riders sign Schaffer-Baker to two year extension

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced that slotback Kian Schaffer-Baker has signed a two-year contract extension.

The Mississauga, Ont., product was taken by the Riders in the fourth round (30th overall) in the 2020 CFL Draft.

He has appeared in 57 games for Saskatchewan, registering 220 receptions for 2,865 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is one the hardest receivers to bring to the ground in the CFL, recording 1,025 yards after catch and a 13-yards-per-catch average.

Schaffer-Baker saw his 2025 season shortened due to a foot injury he suffered in Week 1. Schaffer-Baker had 15 receptions for 177 yards in five games during the regular season. In the Western Final, he caught a three-yard touchdown pass on a third-down gamble. The longest play on that drive was also by Schaffer-Baker – a 25-yard reception.

Schaffer-Baker has also become a fan favourite during his time in Saskatchewan as fans clamour for his autograph. In 2024, he joined the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation as a Player Ambassador and spent the off-season giving back to the province through the Foundation’s Win with Wellness and Rider Reading programs.

He was set to become a free agent on Feb. 10.
