La Ronge Chase the Ace draw growing in popularity

The fundraising coordinator for the new La Ronge and area long-term care facility is impressed by the growing support for the ongoing Chase the Ace draw.

“We are on Week 35 of our Chase the Ace draw, and we really started seeing momentum pick up after the beginning of November,” said Jacob Page.

“We are getting calls from basically all over the province having questions on how they can purchase and where they can purchase, and just to appreciate we are doing a draw and how well it is going.”

In total, 50 per cent of ticket sales go directly to purchase furnishings and equipment for the new long-term care centre expected to be largely completed by the end of this year. In addition, 30 per cent goes towards the progressive jackpot and 20 per cent is paid out to a weekly winner.

So far, nearly $200,000 has been raised for the new centre, and as of last week, almost $80,000 has been paid out to weekly winners. The progressive jackpot will be more than $130,000 by this Friday’s draw.

“Fridays are crazy, and it is so amazing to see the continued support and now we are starting to notice that Thursdays are getting busy as well as the momentum grows and the jackpot grows,” Page said.

As of Dec. 31, more than $2.4 million has been raised out of a $5 million goal. That doesn’t include an additional $292,000 commitment from Indigenous Services Canada in partnership with Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services.

“I just want to thank everybody so far whether it’s just reaching out, sharing our Facebook posts, going to our events, playing Chase the Ace, and of course, all of our donors,” Page remarked.

“Every donation large or small really makes a huge impact when we are on the road to $5 million.”

Those wishing to purchase tickets can do so at the La Ronge General Store or online here.
