Sucker River death deemed a homicide, police ask public for information

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) is asking for the public’s assistance following a homicide in Sucker River.

On March 4 at approximately 12:20 a.m., police received a report of an injured man at a residence in the community. He was transported to hospital by EMS, where he was later declared deceased.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Stephen McKenzie of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

An investigation has determined McKenzie’s death is a homicide. RCMP continues to investigate and are actively working to identify and locate the suspect(s) involved.
