Saskatchewan RCMP are reviewing the circumstances that resulted in three women walking several kilometres in freezing temperatures after an interaction with police.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 14, La Ronge RCMP received a report of a white SUV causing a disturbance in Sucker River. Officers located the vehicle half an hour later on a rural road, about three kilometres north of the community and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon investigation, officers determined the driver was operating the SUV while impaired, and was wanted on outstanding warrants. Open alcohol was also located inside the vehicle. As a result, the man driving was arrested at the scene.

Officers were required to remain at the scene to complete their investigation, and the SUV was seized as part of the impaired driving investigation.
