La Ronge woman to receive Sask. Volunteer Medal

Apr 6, 2026 | 4:42 PM

La Ronge’s Linda Hryniuk will be honoured with a Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal later this month.

Hryniuk, who moved to La Ronge in 1993, has been a devoted volunteer in the community for more than 30 years. In that time, she has been known to contribute her time and financial expertise to numerous clubs or organizations.

“I am just in a position where I can give back to the community where I live,” Hryniuk, who is a semi-retired accountant, said.

“I feel like I can make a positive difference in my community and a few people lives, so I have been able to do that. You get a feel-good feeling when you volunteer.”

Hryniuk currently sits on the boards of the Napatak Ramble, Lac La Ronge Food Bank, La Ronge Seniors Club and La Ronge Curling Club.

Beyond board work, she has been known to volunteer at community events benefitting the Saskaloppet, music festivals, hockey games and fundraising for the new long-term 80-bed care facility. A provincial media release states her mentorship, tireless work ethic, and deep commitment make her an inspiring pillar of the community.

“I grew up in southern Saskatchewan and volunteerism was a big part of the community’s make up. That’s just Saskatchewan as a whole is volunteerism,” Hryniuk explained.

Hryniuk will receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal during a special ceremony in Regina on April 21. She is one of 14 Saskatchewan residents who will receive the medal in 2025.

“The 2025 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal recipients are an impressive group of people,” said Lt.-Gov. Bernadette McIntyre in a media release.

“They have worked generously and tirelessly in support of arts and culture, sports and recreation, youth and seniors, veterans and the military, and those living with disabilities and chronic illness. I am thrilled to acknowledge these remarkable individuals who have contributed in countless ways to our province.”
