The 2026 SJHL Draft has come to an end, and the La Ronge Ice Wolves have now added another eight names to the organization, including the first overall pick in the draft.

Meadow Lake born forward Kacy Turberfield was selected first overall. This past season, Turberfield played 22 games with the North West Stars U15 AA team where he posted 21G-15A-36P from the blue line. He was also called up for seven games with the Battlefords Stars U18 AAA team.

Two picks later, the Ice Wolves selected Caleb Philp third overall. The Shellbrook-born forward won a provincial championship this year with the Prince Albert Pirates U15 AA team. During the regular season, he posted 28G-45A-73P in 27 games, along with a four-game call-up with the Prince Albert Mintos U18 AAA team.

Both Turberfield and Philp were selected in the WHL Prospects Draft earlier this year. Turberfield was selected 109th overall by the Prince George Cougars, and Philp 25th overall by the Swift Current Broncos.

Moving on the the 2010 born draft, the Ice Wolves made a total of five picks.

With the first overall selection in that age group, the Ice Wolves went with Warman-born defenceman Arlo Barclay. Standing at 6’1, 161 lbs, Barclay spent last season with the Notre Dame Hounds U18 AAA team. Last year, Barclay posted 3G-22A-25P in 42 games making him the leading defenceman on the team for points and fourth overall.

The Ice Wolves then used the seventh overall selection on Moose Jaw-born defenceman Calder Harris. At 5’8, 141 lbs, Harris spent last season split between the Regina Capitals U18 AA team and the Regina Pat Canadians U18 AAA team.

In 35 games at the AA level last season, Harris posted 2G-16A-18P with the Capitals. During his eight-game call-up with the Pat Canadians, Harris posted 1G-2A-3P.

The Ice Wolves didn’t have a pick in the second or third rounds after trading the 13th overall pick to Nipawin, and the 25th overall pick to Flin Flon.

That meant the Ice Wolves wouldn’t pick again until the start of the fourth round. With the 37th overall selection, the Ice Wolves went to Prince Albert and chose defenceman Rhett Franklin. As a member of the Prince Albert Renegades U16 AA team, Franklin posted 16G-22A-38P in 32 games. He sat third in team scoring and led all defencemen.

Still in the fourth round, the Ice Wolves took Regina-born goaltender Gavin Steeves with the 42nd pick, which they acquired from Melfort.

Steeves was the starting goaltender for the Regina Vics U18 AA team last year. His 0.932 save percentage was the fourth best in the league this year with a record of 14-4-0 and a second-best in the league goals against average of 2.28.

To kick off the fifth round, the Ice Wolves selected Saskatoon-born Robbie Harrison 49th overall. Another defenceman, Harrison comes to the Ice Wolves standing at 6’1, 170 lbs.

Harrison played with the Saskatoon Riverkings U18 AA team where he posted 1G-7A-8P in 30 games from the blue line.

The Ice Wolves had one final pick in the sixth round, but decided to pass on it. The team also auto-protected defenceman James Cook ahead of the draft.
