Saskatchewan RCMP have charged a man in relation to the death of 39-year-old Stephen McKenzie from the Lac La Ronge Indian Band community of Sucker River.

Andrew Douglas MacDonald, a 24-year-old from Lindsay, Ont., has been charged with second-degree murder.

He was arrested June 11 at the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatoon Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team and transported back to Saskatchewan.  MacDonald is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on June 12.

Back in March, police received a report of an injured man at a residence in Sucker River. He was transported to hospital by EMS, where he was later declared deceased.
