Police searching for missing men on foraging trip

La Ronge RCMP are search for three men who went missing near Jayjay Lake, located about 100 kilometres southeast of La Ronge.

They are 49-year-old Roderick Bird, 67-year-old Emil Ratt, and 48-year-old Ricky McKenzie.

The men were last reported to be on Highway 165, approximately 10 kilometers north of Highway #106 near Jayjay Lake at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. They are on a planned foraging trip, traveling on foot.

Since they were reported missing, officers have engaged Saskatchewan RCMP’s Search and Rescue and Police Dog Services, as well as the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to assist in the search.

All three men are wearing orange vests and sweatpants, but police didn’t have a photo to share of the individuals at this time. If you have seen or spoken with any of the men, or know where they are, contact La Ronge RCMP at 310-RCMP.

Additionally, RCMP are asking anyone who lives in the Jayjay Lake area to check their home security cameras, doorbell cameras, and dashcams on the evening of July 22 or anytime July 23. If your device captured images or videos of the missing individuals, please report it to police immediately by calling 310-RCMP.
