Man facing sexual assault charges after incident at JRMCC

Feb 4, 2026 | 1:54 PM

A 30-year-old man is facing sexual assault charges following an incident at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC).

On Feb. 2 at approximately 2:15 a.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of an indecent act at a community facility on Far Reserve Road. An investigation determined a male engaged in an indecent act in front of two individuals.

Police arrested 30-year-old Shane Naytowhow from La Ronge at the facility and charged him with two counts of sexual assault, as well as being unlawfully nude in a public place.

He is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Feb. 6.

Staff at the JRMCC have since released a public statement acknowledging the incident, stating two fitness centre members encountered an individual at the entrance of the men’s change room engaging in inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour.

“Want to be very clear that this behaviour is completely unacceptable and does not align with the values or standards of the JRMCC,” the notice reads.

“The individual involved has been suspended from the fitness centre indefinitely.”

Staff encourage members to work out with a gym buddy whenever possible and to remain aware of their surroundings.
