Mike McEwen parts ways with Sask. rink after three seasons

After three seasons in Saskatchewan, Mike McEwen will no longer skip his current team.

The Brandon, Man. product announced on Facebook, “The team has chosen a different path without me next season.”

He added in the post that he is a free agent for the coming season.

McEwen joined the Saskatchewan rink in 2023 – which consisted of Colton Flasch at third, Kevin Marsh at second and lead Dan Marsh. He and that rink have appeared in every Brier since, joining forces as they won the provincial playdowns in 2024 and then qualifying for the Canadian men’s national curling championships by accumulating enough points on the Canadian curling circuit.

The team claimed silver in the 2024 Brier in Regina, losing to Brad Gushue in the finals. They finished third at the 2025 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.

Things didn’t go the team’s way at this year’s Brier in St. John’s, N.L., as they missed out on the playoffs after finishing fourth in their pool. Matt Dunstone, a former Saskatchewan skip, won it with his Manitoba rink.

The 2027 Brier will take place in Saskatoon.
