Official candidate list released for LLRIB election

Campaigning has started for the upcoming Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s 2026 general election.  

The official list of candidates was released on Tuesday and it shows four people, including Tammy Cook-Searson, Bruce McKenzie, Jude Ratt and Larry Roberts, running for chief.  

There are four councillor positions in La Ronge with 12 people campaigning for a spot. They are Michael Bird, Shane Bird, James Eninew, Alex Halkett, Samuel Hardlotte, Ann Ratt, Christopher Ratt, Dean Roberts, Sam Roberts (Chox), Jennifer Roberts-Cook, Dennis Sanderson and Cheryline (Charlene) Venne.  

In Stanley Mission, Jimmy Charles, Larry Charles, Linda Charles, Morris McKenzie, Robin McKenzie, Richard McLeod and Cora Roberts are running for three councillor positions.  

There are two councillor positions up for grabs in Little Red River with John Halkett, Lawrence Halkett, Tracey Halkett and Keith Mirasty on the ballot.  

Grandmother’s Bay, Hall Lake and Sucker River all have one councillor spot with incumbent Korrie Ratt being the only person to put their name forward in Sucker River.

Those running in Hall Lake include David Crane, Joseph Ratt and Norman Ross, while those running in Grandmother’s Bay are Nora Charles and Gerald McKenzie.  

Advance polls will be held on March 23 and election day is set for March 30. Electronic online voting is also available from March 18 to March 29.
