Jury trial commences for La Ronge area murder case
A man found lying face down in a bathtub at a northern Saskatchewan residence was unconscious and had stab wounds to his chest and abdomen areas.
Water from the faucet was lightly running onto the back of his head.
Those were among the disturbing details shared Monday afternoon as Mary Bird’s jury trial commenced at Court of King’s Bench in Prince Albert. In relation to the death of Wilfred Ballantyne in November 2023, Bird is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
On Nov. 25, 2023, La Ronge RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive man at a residence at Morin’s Hill on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
