Canoe club welcoming professional paddler in June
The Pimiskatan Canoe Club began their season earlier this week with their annual registration night.
There were about 30 people who attended registration on Wednesday, but Pimiskatan President Warren Kelly said they usually have more who sign up later and that membership is typically around 50 people.
“We’re a marathon canoeing club,” he explained.
“Our activities are we have a short race every Wednesday evening, and Thursday evening, we have recreational paddling and lessons, then we’ll have some short trips sometimes overnight and so on. At the end of August, we have our annual race, which is about 32 kilometers for the long distance and seven kms for the short distance.”
