New leases available at La Ronge Airport

A number of new properties are available for lease at the La Ronge Airport.

The lots recently became available after the town created them through the subdivision process. The lots, which are zoned for aviation and industrial purposes, are located along Athabaska Airways Road, Hanger Lane, Northern Air Operations Road and Pinehouse Airways Road.

“It is all vacant land,” wrote La Ronge Chief Administrative Officer Lyle Hannan in an email to larongeNOW.

“Some lots need clearing to develop, while others need minimal prep. Of course, this is somewhat dependent on the level of development being proposed.”

The lots come in a variety of sizes and configurations, as well as offer high visibility and good access.

Aviation uses include aircraft hangers, maintenance, repair and overall facilities, flight training operations, and aviation support operations, while industrial uses include contractor services, equipment rentals, outdoor storage, service or repair shops, and light industrial purposes.

Leases are available for short terms all the way up to 25 years.

“The benefits to the municipality are that the leases are a revenue source, they support interest in use of the airport by companies and individuals who need convenient access to their assets to use the airport, and it can ease the demand on land in the industrial park in town for certain uses, for example storage, that are a fit,” Hannan noted.

The La Ronge Airport is the third busiest in the province and serves as an essential hub for northern communities and the mining industry.
