If the Grey Cup win last year helped to establish a championship pedigree for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, this season will test if this is a long-term or short-term situation.
The Riders went into Edmonton facing the 6-1 Elk who beat the Riders by two points the week before in a game the Riders should have won but mentally were not in following the death of linebacker Jayden Dalke in a collision coming back to Regina after the bye week.
The Elk announced they would be opening their upper deck for the first time in a long time with over 30,000 in attendance. TSN did its part to hype the occasion with the panel holding court in Edmonton and Edmonton being praised for its turnaround marked by beating the defending Grey Cup Champions.
