Rice worms affecting some harvesters more than others
Wild rice harvesting is underway in Northern Saskatchewan.
Garth Muirhead has been busy harvesting wild rice at Meeyomoot Lake, which is about 70 kilometers south of La Ronge. He began harvesting Sept. 1 and expects to continue until the end of the month.
As with the last couple of years, Muirhead noted rice worms continue to be a cause of concern.
“We got a couple patches that have really bad rice worm. Some of the patches are really bad and some aren’t too bad at all,” he explained.
