Johns stepping down as KCDA CEO
A man from Air Ronge will soon be retiring as head of an organization he’s led since it was founded back in 1996. Randy Johns will end his position as the chief executive officer of the Keewatin Community Development Association (KCDA) on Sept. 30.
The organization, formerly known as the Keewatin Career Development Corporation, began providing career service work during the early days of the Internet.
It was Johns who wrote the proposal to launch the organization, which was pivotal in ushering in the Information Age to Northern Saskatchewan, as well as numerous First Nations communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
“We worked with existing people who were providing career services to help them understand how they could access information online through the new Internet and then provide that to their clients, so we did training sessions and that kind of stuff,” he explained.
