Ruiz Arcand resigns from council

Viviana Ruiz Arcand has resigned as a councillor for the Town of La Ronge.  

“I have decided to leave council because the time commitments and responsibilities no longer fit my lifestyle,” she wrote in a statement to larongeNOW.  

“I did the best I could during my time on council and contributed as much as I was able to, but I realized that stepping away was the right decision for me at this point in my life.”  

Ruiz Arcand was first elected to town council in November 2020 and was later acclimated in August 2024. She also noted she’s proud of the work she was able to accomplish while on council and she will continue supporting the community and advocating for Northern Saskatchewan in other ways.
