A 22-year-old man is facing charges including possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes after barricading himself with a woman in a residence on the Sucker River First Nation.

That’s according to an RCMP media release, which states officers were notified at approximately 7:30 a.m. about an armed male who had barricaded himself and an adult female in the residence. Members from the La Ronge, Prince Albert and Stanley Mission RCMP detachments, along with officers from the RCMP Crime Reduction Team and RCMP Containment Team, attended the scene.

The Emergency Response Team was en-route to the scene when the male exited the home and was arrested without incident. The school and local daycare were notified and placed into a hold and secure mode while the police were dealing with the situation. The lone female occupant of the residence was taken to hospital in La Ronge for treatment.

As a result of the incident, Jonah Ratt was charged with assault, uttering threats, possession of weapon for dangerous purposes and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
