An arrest has been made in connection to a shooting that happened Jan. 13 when a five-year-old was left with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

That’s according to an RCMP media release, which states the Prince Albert General Investigation Service investigated the incident where several shots were fired at a residence on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Mikisiw Drive. A bullet struck the young boy in the foot.

An 18-year-old man, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was under the age of 18 at the time of the incident, was arrested. He’s been charged with reckless discharge of firearm, discharge firearm with intent, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, participating in a criminal organization, use of a firearm while committing the indictable offence of reckless discharge of a firearm, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlawfully causing bodily harm by shooting and use of a firearm in a careless manner.

The teen made his first court appearance Thursday at provincial court in La Ronge. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 20 at 9 a.m. in La Ronge.
