One seriously injured, another charged after ATV accident on Clearwater River Dene F.N.

One woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an all terrain vehicle accident on the Clearwater River Dene First Nation.

Emergency crews were called out at around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 8.

The passenger, a 49-year-old female, was taken to hospital in Saskatoon. The driver did not sustain injuries, according to the RCMP.

As a result, the driver is charged with operating an ATV without insurance, carrying a passenger on an ATV not designated to do so, failing to operate an ATV with approved helmet and eye protection and operating an ATV on the travelled portion of a highway.

The driver was released on scene and issued a 21-day driver’s license suspension. The ATV was seized.
