Soccer club gearing up for second season in tri-communities
Less than two weeks remain before the start of the second season for the Lac La Ronge Tri-Community Soccer Association.
Committee members held a registration event Monday at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC) hoping to receive some last-minute participants before online registration closes Wednesday. Residents have had since July to do so on the club’s website and board member Autumn Carlson stated so far there have been 70 children signed up.
“We are hoping to grow our organization every year, so we’re hoping those numbers go up,” she said, adding more than 180 kids were registered in 2018. “We have a great board and we hope to keep it running strong for the foreseeable future.”
This season also marks the club’s first year as a full member in the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. Carlson noted almost the entire $40 to register a child goes to the association for insurance per player. She added fees are kept so low to allow as many children as possible access the sport.
