Anyone can join in on the fun at the Sucker River SummerFest19.

“Anyone can come, try their luck, have fun and be in every competition if they want to,” Festival Coordinator Kennidy Proulx said. “For us to put on something like this and have many people from different communities come in and join in on the fun is really good.”

SummerFest19 began Monday with a float parade, home-run derby, slo-pitch match and fireworks. The opening ceremony of the five-day event was held this morning and other activities are planned throughout the day including a fish filleting competition, trapper events, cultural teachings, a shoreline fish derby, a triathlon and movie night.

Wednesday is also a busy day with a ball hockey tournament, boat rides for elders, the King and Queen of the Dock competition and talent night. Thursday will include a two-person best-ball golf tournament at Eagle Point, as well as other competitions in basketball, Texas Hold ‘Em, horseshoes and cribbage. The closing ceremony will be Friday at 10 a.m.
