November 16, 1987 – April 20, 2019
Darren Leigh Anderson passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 31 on April 20, 2019. He was born on November 16, 1987 in Prince Albert, SK, to Gail and Randy Anderson. Darren graduated from Wesmor Community High School in 2005 and studied at Briercrest Christian Academy. A strong faith in God guided his steps and he was baptised in 2014. On July 6, 2014 he married Vanessa whom he met at Jan Lake, SK.
Darren pursued work that reflected his passions and personality. His time spent at Jan Lake Lodge was more than work – it was his special place. He loved the people and paradise he had found there. His big heart and positive outlook made him a natural mentor to youth while working and volunteering for Joe’s Place Youth Centre in Moose Jaw. At Village Green Furniture Store, Saskatoon, he demonstrated his creativity in refurbishing and building furniture.
Darren had many interests, which included fishing, camping, exploring, making hand-crafted items, and spending time with family and friends. Those close to Darren have described him as genuine, strong, humble, and a “gentle giant”.
He is survived by his wife, Vanessa; his parents, Gail and Randy; his brother, Luke; his sister, Heidi; as well as his in-laws and many extended family members.
Please join us for a memorial service, where we will honour and celebrate Darren’s life at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Saskatoon, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Joe’s Place, an organization close to Darren’s heart, at www.joesplaceyouthcentre.ca Donations presented to family will be put towards purchasing a pull-out chair for the oncology unit of Royal University Hospital.
