May 31, 1946 – March 29, 2019
Charlotte Marjorie Milne (Stephens née Hemingway) passed away peacefully on March 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Charlotte was born in Kipling, Saskatchewan on May 31, 1946. She was predeceased by her parents, Stewart and Dorothy Hemingway (Sheeley, née Clements), her brothers, Bobby and Arthur, and her son-in-law, Ralph Popadynec.
Charlotte will be remembered as a loving, vibrant, courageous woman by her husband, Dale Milne, her children Ricki Jean Popadynec, Blake (Melanie) Stephens, and Joni (Mel) Menz, her sisters Betty (Hal) Macon, Marion (Larry Ahenakew) Hemingway and Linda (Keith) Goulet, her beloved grandchildren Rachel Ann, Jackson, and Matthew as well as her step-children Vanna (David) Nigh and David (Elaine) Milne and step-grandchildren Dallas, Joshua, Curtis, Dayne, Bryne and Georgia and her numerous nieces and nephews and great nephews and nieces.
Charlotte grew up in small Saskatchewan towns before the family moved to Saskatoon in 1958. In 1965 she married her high school sweetheart, Rick Stephens and worked for over 22 years as a paralegal for McKercher & Co. In 2004 Charlotte left her marriage and moved to La Ronge to work as a receptionist in the dentist office while indulging her passion for sewing with the quilting group.
Charlotte met Dale Milne in 2005 and they were married in North Battleford in 2007. In 2011, they relocated to the La Ronge area living by the lake at Napatak. Alas, health problems required another move closer to treatments so in June 2016, they moved to Delisle, where Char happily sang in the “funest” choir in Saskatchewan.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Cancer Centre, Oncology Unit at RUH and the St. Paul’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Your care of our beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunty, graunty was very much appreciated. Thank you also to the Prairie View Chapel for your service to the family. The Celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at the Delisle Town Hall on April 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Char’s memory may be made to the OVARIAN CANCER – WALK OF HOPE. https://secure2.convio.net/noca/site/Donation.
