Arsène Robert

Surrounded by his family, Arsène Julien Joseph Robert passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Arsène was born May 30, 1930 to Emery and Madeleine (Georget) Robert in Domremy, SK. He was the sixth of seven children and the youngest boy. He farmed with his father and brothers until his father’s passing, when he eventually took over the operation of the homestead. On August 17, 1964, Arsène married Denise Roy. Together they purchased a house and 10 acres on the outskirts of domremy. Here they started their family and created a loving and happy home. Arsène and Denise welcomed their first child, Louise, in June of 1965 and their second child, Maurice, in April of 1967. Arsène was an extremely active member of the community. He volunteered countless hours working at many community projects. He was a member of the community club and even served as mayor of Domremy for a time. He is well remembered for his dedication to the curling rink, where he made ice, organized bonspiels with Ralph Gaudet and assisted in the operation of the kitchen. Arsène was a very humble and quiet man and preferred that his volunteerism go unheralded. Some of Arsène’s favourite passions were farming, goose hunting, playing Kaiser, playing pool at the senior’s centre and checking up on the Gorieu boys. Arsène’s family and friends fondly remember him for his punctuality and coffee making skills. Arsène leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his loving wife of 54 years, Denise; his daughter Louise (Al Jacobson) Robert, Saskatoon, SK; his son Maurice Robert, Saskatoon, SK; his grandson, Dominic Jacobson; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Aline Trumier, Marcel Roy, Margaret Roy and Sylvia (Walter) Saranchuk; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Arsène was predeceased by his parents, Emery & Madeleine (Georget) Robert; his siblings: Agnes (Ervin) Gagnon, Joseph (Jean), Emeril (Denise), Ernest (Florette), André (Evelyne) & Blandine (Larry) Hamel; his brothers-in-law, Raymond Trumier & Ernest Roy; and his sister-in-law, Theresa Roy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Domremy on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Ramel Macapala as celebrant. Interment of the Urn will follow in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Arsène mat be directed to the Domremy Golden Age Club.
