Lorne Haberstock

Lorne Haberstock was born on Wednesday, August 9, 1939 to Maria (Nee Becker) and Adolph Haberstock in Zorra District, East of Yorkton, SK, and passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018, in Prince Albert, SK, surrounded by family, at the age of 79 years.
As a youth, Lorne played ball, hockey and attended school in MacNutt, SK. He graduated Valedictorian from MacNutt High School at age 16, followed by attending Normal School for a basic teaching certificate. After that, he attended Sask. Technical Institute and achieved a two-year Architectural Technology Certificate in 1964. In 1972, he obtained a Bachelor of Education Degree from University of Saskatchewan.
Early on, Lorne taught in a one room school near Yorkton for one year, then taught in elementary school in Neudorf and continued his career in adult education in Melville. In 1974 he started work with Natonum Community College as Evening Trades Supervisor and Associate Studies instructor. From there he progressed to Program Coordinator and Associated Studies Instructor and Program Dept. Head. Joining Woodland Campus in 1986, he served the students for 12 years as a tutor and Program Head in the academic tutorial center. He retired in 1999.
Over the years, Lorne enjoyed summers with his family at Emma lake, as well as family trips throughout western Canada and the Northern United States. Snowmobiling with friends was a favorite winter past time. He was passionate about his vegetable garden, fruit trees and yard. In his later years Lorne enjoyed coffee at the A&W with friends and discussions on current events.
Lorne is survived by, his wife Dianne; his children, Lianne (Lionel) Pillar, Ryan (Renee) Haberstock, and Kristian (Jodi) Haberstock; his grandchildren, Steven (Heather) Berezowski, Cole Pillar, Megan and Cameron Haberstock, and Owen and Quinn Haberstock; his great-granddaughter, Artleigh Berezowski; his brother, Lynn (Charlene) Haberstock; his brother-in-law, Ted Praski; his brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Marlene Peterson; his sister-in-law, Anne (Dennis Ironside) Peterson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by, his parents, Adolph and Maria (Becker) Haberstock; his sisters, Meone and her husband Jim Hawrychuk, Marlene and her husband George Tkachuk, Sharon Praski and her twin Shirley Haberstock (in infancy); his mother and father-in-law, Lois and Robert Peterson; his brother-in-law, Raymond Peterson.
