Henriette Marie La Haye
April 8, 1921 – July 19, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their mother, Henriette Marie La Haye (nee Guedo), on July 19, 2018, in Shellbrook, SK, at the age of 97 years. Henriette was the youngest child of Barbe and Joseph Geudo, born April 8, 1921. Henriette was predeceased by: her husband: Jules “Tommy” La Haye; her parents: Barbe and Joseph Geudo; her brother: August; and her sisters: Jeanette (Marcel Poudrier), Josephine (Oscar Haugen), and Annette (Ben Christianson). Henriette is survived by: her daughters: Julie (Eldon Laird), and Dianne (Wilfred Serjeant); her sons: Maurice (Wanda Lee), and Gregory; her grandchildren: Barret and Janine, Guy and Shannon, Nicole and Adam, Keith (Janice), Jennifer (Billy), and Randy (Candace); her great-grandchildren: Damian, Jeremy, and Casey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In 1943 Henriette married Jules La Haye. She moved to Halifax where Tommy was stationed (Air Force). While there, she sold fur coats to supplement their income. After Tommy’s discharge, they farmed in Red Wing. They had a mixed farm with grain, cattle, pigs, and chickens. They worked hard side by side. She had large gardens, giving excess veggies to Senior Complexes. She sold Jersey cream, raspberries, and knitted socks, toques, and mitts, from old Siwashes and sweaters. She was also a good wine maker. Tommy and Henriette did a lot of travelling – U.S., Hawaii, Europe, and Canada, coast to coast. At Christmas everybody was expected for dinner (a full house). The family would like to thank Dr. Harris (Brenda) for her care for all these years, as well as the caring staff at the Shellbrook Hospital. At Henriette’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at a later date. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium – Shellbrook Funeral Home.
