Annie was born in Western Ukraine on March 22, 1924, to Fanny and Andrew Luchkanych. Annie met and married the love of her life Steve Krakowetz on October 26, 1947. They together raised a family of four children. When Steve passed away in 1990, Annie continued to live on the farm by herself, enjoying the company of many animals, farm and wild alike. Her greatest love was for her family and every year for their birthdays and Christmas she would gift them with money. Her passion extended to her large garden of vegetables and flowers, cutting cordwood and many other tasks that were needed to run a farm. She enjoyed checking over her son’s cattle in spring when Andy would bring them. For 2.5 years Annie worked at the Victoria Hospital, it filled her need to be around people and help them. On Mondays, you could find Annie at the senior’s center playing cards and carpet bowling.
Annie accepted life and all its ups and downs with grace and serenity, she was very brave living by herself and was unafraid of death, she was thankful for all life had given her. Annie will be remembered with love by her family.
Annie will be forever missed by her children: Andy (Jeannette) Krakowetz and their children: Melissa, Chantel (Brett) Trost and Scott; Mary Ann Harmatiuk and her sons: Brian and Kevin (Tammy Locke) and three great-grandchildren Bryce, Carter and Isabella; Sandra (John) Zimmer and their children, Jayden and Amanda (Eric) Upton, great-grandchildren Harlyn and Emmett; brother in law Don Samoil; numerous nieces and nephews.
