Eugene passed away peacefully at the Hafford Special Care Home at the age of 92 years. He is lovingly remembered by his children: daughters Michele (Garry) Hupaelo, & Janet Lavoie; sons Jim, Neil (Cheryl), and Alan (Pamela); grandchildren Erin Hupaelo, Melanie (Bradley) Rempel, Craig (Rachael) Hupaelo, Lenore (Justin) Novak, Lane (Sheila) Lavoie, Christina Lavoie (Brayden Degagne), Karen (Darren) Peters, and Kaitlan Lavoie and 12 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters-in-law Cecile Lavoie & Lorraine Ernewein, and brothers-in-law Jim Lanigan & Ed Pilon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Bernice (nee Lanigan), his parents John & Julie, his in-laws Joseph & Johanna Lanigan, and all 9 of his siblings.
Eugene was born on the homestead south of Tallman, SK. He graduated with a course in Diesel & Auto mechanics, which came in handy on the farm.
He was a mixed farmer with both grain & cattle. He built our home in Blaine Lake where he and Bernice raised all 5 of us children. He was active in the Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Knight’s of Columbus. He joined the Optimist club in Blaine Lake while it was active. He enjoyed curling and golfing. When he retired from farming he bought a tractor with a rototiller and made many a mile in and around Blaine Lake. His memory started to fail and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. We were very fortunate that he always remembered us. Dad needed to go into the Hafford Special Care home in November 2014. We are extremely pleased with the care that he was given while there and wish to thank them. It is very appreciated.
