Elmer passed away peacefully on June 18, 2018 with his family by his side at St. Paul’s Hospital. Elmer is survived by his loving wife Gail, of 47 years; his daughter Lisa Madraga (Casey Sullivan); his most special granddaughter Kadence Madraga; step grandson’s Shaymus and Lyam Sullivan; sisters Elsie (Al) Zarycki and Debbie (Barry) Mysko; sisters-in-laws Karen (Larry) Yaremko, and Glenda (Charlie) Favreau; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Nick and Lena Kaminesky and mother and father-in-law Mike and Mae Rogozinski. Elmer was born in Cudworth, SK. and moved to Prince Albert at an early age to the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and continued to help with the farming operations for many years. Elmer attended school in PA and upon graduation he worked at the Sask. Training School and Yorkton Psychiatric Center. He then attended University in Saskatoon and eventually moved back to PA where he enjoyed a satisfying career of 38 years at the Prince Albert Correctional Center and obtained his Social Work degree. Elmer also taught the Corrections course at SIAST in Prince Albert. Over the years, he quietly engaged in community activities. He belonged to the Optimist Club in PA and served on a few boards. Elmer and Gail purchased a motor home and spent many summers at Waskesiu Lake and trekked all across Canada. He then went on to work at Elk Ridge Resort for 15 years as a Marshall where he enjoyed the outdoors, visiting and meeting the golfers. Elmer had a passion for downhill skiing. Many winters were spent traveling to various ski resorts. He was also a ski instructor. He like playing Kaiser, dancing, golfing, fishing, boating and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. Elmer and Gail were avid travelers. They took many trips to Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Family trips were taken to Disneyland where he went on every single ride with Kadence and to Toronto Blue Jays games where he caught a baseball with her at the game, and watched home runs fly. One of his last trips was to Alaska with his family where he was thrilled to walk the glacier. Later, Elmer and Gail decided to purchase a Park model in Mesa, Arizona to escape the cold winters where they made many new friends. In 2010, they moved to Saskatoon to be closer to Lisa and Kadence. Elmer was always interested in current events, sports and politics. He was a man of honesty, integrity, was kind and caring and was always there to help. He was always proud of his family and their accomplishments. Seeing his granddaughter Kadence always put a smile on his face.
