WOLCH, Frederick Neil March 20th, 1946 – June 10th, 2018
Fred was born and raised in Winnipeg. After attending Grant Park High School, Fred continued his education, graduating from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation Fred moved to Toronto where he began his career in the field of housing. Fred’s expertise was valued as he made many moves, relocating to London, Regina, Winnipeg and lastly Prince Albert, where he eventually retired. Fred developed and continued many long-time friendships with peers throughout his working and retirement years.
Fred met his wife Linda while working as a summer student at Clear Lake, MB, whom he married in 1971. Their love of Clear Lake was mutual and a portion of every summer was spent at their family cottage, helping to maintain the 75+ year legacy.
Fred also had a passion for Northern Saskatchewan, spending over 20 years at his cabin at Weyakwin Lake. Fred spent countless hours visiting with the neighbours and accompanying his granddaughters on their many walks. He was a very special Zaida to Hannah and Abigail, as well as the other neighbourhood children.
Fred will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda, sons Joel of Toronto, and Adam (Heather) and granddaughters Hannah and Abigail of Saskatoon, brother Ken (Marni) of Toronto, brothers-in-law John Howatt (Tammy) of Duncan and David Howatt (Anne) of Edmonton, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Fred’s life took place in Regina on June 12th. Memorial donations in Fred’s memory may be directed to Beth Jacob Synagogue, 4715 McTavish St, Regina S4S 6H2, Parkinson’s Canada, or to a charity of your choice.
