Rae Benson

Lorna Rae Benson (nee Martin), born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, daughter of Lloyd R. Martin and Margaret H. Carson, died in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, 12 June 2018. She grew up and was educated in eastern Canada, graduating in 1967 from the University of New Brunswick. While at U.N.B. she met James Benson; they married in 1967. For almost fifty years she lived in Prince Albert, where she was a teacher, librarian, and archivist. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband’s parents, A.W.B (Benny) and Margaret (Peggie) Benson. She leaves those she loved; her husband, Jamie; her children, Sarah and Eric; Sarah’s husband, Walter Hannam; her brothers, Carson and Kim; her sisters-in-law, Carol and Shonn; and close friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, 18 June 2018, at St. Alban’s Cathedral.
At a later date, Rae’s ashes will be placed in Heritage Oak Columbarium, Christ Church Anglican, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Those wishing to make a contribution in her memory are asked to consider the Endowment Fund of the Cathedral Church of St. Alban the Martyr, Prince Albert.
