George Dodd Jr.
November 9, 1930 – June 10, 2018
It is with sadness and fond memories that the family of George Dodd Jr. announce that he passed away on June 10, 2018 at the Big River Health Centre at 87 years of age. George was born in Prince Albert, Sask. to George Sr. and Edith Dodd on November 9, 1930. He lived his entire life on the same quarter of land at Erinferry, Sask.
George will be dearly missed by his loving family: his wife of almost 62 years, Donna; his children, Gail Dodd, Valerie (Randy) Jezowski and their children, Kaitlyn, Jayden and Tara, Karen (Vernon) Leach and their chi;dren, Janine (daughter, Ember) and Megan (Jim); his sister, Gertrude Shuker; 3 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law and their families swell as numerous nieces and nephews.
George is predeceased by: his parents, George Sr. and Edith Dodd; his sisters, Margaret “Peg” and Art Buckle, Georgina “Gena” and Graydon Kinnaird and their daughter, Ellen; his brother-in-law Stuart “Murphy” Shuker; his parents-in-law, Ernest and Wilma Doucet; his sister-in-law, Shirley OKeefe and brother-in-law, Robert Doucet.
George had many hobbies and always kept busy. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as trapping, fishing, birdwatching and gardening. In winter he enjoyed curling, dancing, travelling, visiting and card games. He worked for the Department of Highways for 38 years as a grader operator. George and Donna (Doucet were married on July 16th, 1956 and lived in Erinferry south of Big River.
A memorial service will be held at the big River Community Centre on Friday, June 15th, 2018 at 2:00PM with Delores Beaulac officiating. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary in Big River.
