It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tinia Lorreann Sandin. She left us to go to her heavenly home on April 3, 2018. Tinia was born April 18, 1941 in Blaine Lake, SK to parents Peter & Mary (Samiroden) Ewachiw. As a child, she and her sister Elaine had tea parties with their straw stuffed porcelain dolls. They had no bikes so they walked everywhere. They caught tadpoles in sloughs, played catch with their dog Denis, and on Sundays they went to Sunday School where their mother taught classes. They took trips to Martens Lake, Watrous, Manitou Beach and the west coast to visit relatives. Every day after school they had chores to do, get the cows, milk them, prepare meals, pick fruits and vegetables, help with canning, and get water to wash clothes. Her life in Blaine Lake was hard work, fun times and good happy memories. During her school years she was a telephone operator, sold theatre tickets, was a waitress and did farm chores. Following high school graduation she went to Teacher’s College and later received her degree in Education. Tinia taught for 30 years starting in Shell Lake, Leask, and then many schools in Prince Albert. She was friendly, compassionate, hard-working and would do anything for her students and family. Her faith was trusting God for every need. Her favourite pastimes were curling, fishing and playing cards. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband David of 56 years; her daughter, Lorreann Helstrom; her granddaughter, Samantha Fiddler (Chad); her great-grandchildren, Karter, Keighleigh and Pierce; her sister, Elaine Rowland (Ted) and their children, Curt and Joanne along with their families; many cousins, neighbours and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Mary Ewachiw; her adopted son, Murray Sandin; and great-granddaughter, Jayden Helstrom. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses that helped her with her health needs. Tinia’s funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Prince Albert First Baptist Church, 1351 – 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 0Z9. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
