Walter Silzer : July 15, 1929 – March 7, 2018 – 88 years of age
Walter was born in Lakenheath, Saskatchewan, to parents Karl George Silzer and Christina (Rust) Silzer.
He was the ninth of eleven children. He completed elementary school in Lakenheath and attended Luther College in Regina. He did various jobs finally becoming a grain buyer for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He was stationed at Divide, Orkney, Willows, Gull Lake and Rosthern.
He married Eileen Baker from Earl Grey in 1951. Together they shared an amazing 67 years of marriage. They had 3 daughters – MaryAnne, Louise, and Kathy.
Walter was an ambitious grain buyer, priding himself in a job well done and winning a variety of company awards. In these years the family enjoyed vacations to the mountains but mostly camping at Beaver Glen in P.A.N.P. where bear watching was a favorite pass time. In later years he and Eileen enjoyed their early retirement at Christopher Lake where they gardened in the small yard but more impressively in boxes on the dock, and entertained kids, grand kids and a wide variety of friends and family. Their later retirement was spent in Prince Albert, where they continued their love of gardening, growing vegetables and many varieties of fruit including grapes, kiwis and haskaps (Matthew’s favorite).
Walter passed away after a short battle with cancer and leaves to cherish his memory his wife Eileen; daughters MaryAnne (Brent) Kennedy and Kathy (Brian) Randall; special family members Brad and Sandra Tokaruk; grandchildren Dennis (Stacy) Lair, Leisa (Jamie) Miller, Matthew (Jenna) Tokaruk, Megan (Chad) Wotherspoon, Pam Randall; great grandchildren Easton Lair and Bryce Lair. He was predeceased by daughter Louise.
At Walters request there will be no service.
