On February 22nd, 2018, Nadia Moberly (Czychowski) peacefully left her journey of life to begin a new journey of Dancing in the Sky. The Celebration of her life was held at MacKenzie Chapel. Mom was laid to rest on February 28th, 2018 at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Our mother and Baba was born August 6th, 1930 in Prince Albert, SK. Mom spent her early years on the farm and moved into the city as a young adult. Mom was hard-working and taught us a strong work ethic. One of her first jobs was as a waitress at Central Café. It was around this time that she met the love of her life Russel Moberly, and they were married in 1949. Mom and Dad had two children; Grant and Cheryl. Mom then worked at Woolworths coffee bar where she spent 25+ years. We all have fond memories of having fries and gravy in the booths and will never forget meat pie Thursday. Dad passed away in 1986 at which time mom retired. After four attempts she got her driver’s license and then bought the infamous K-car.
Mom became a volunteer English teacher and became involved with P.A. Single Parents. Around this time Mom met Hans Morken, and they spent the next 10+ years travelling the world and going dancing. After Hans passed away Mom sold her house and moved into Carment Court in Prince Albert. She spent 8 years living in Carment Court and became involved in the Seniors activities. She also went on several bus trips to various Casinos. Along the way she made many friends and had many fond memories. Mom also enjoyed her many over night trips to visit her granddaughter and great-grandchildren in Saskatoon.
As Mom’s health declined she lived at Nelson’s Care Home and spent the last 4 years in Paradise Path, Herb Bassett Home. She was often heard giving heck to the amazing staff. She was referred to as the feisty little lady. Mom maintained her sense of humor right up until the time of her passing.
Mom leaves to mourn her passing, a son: Grant Moberly from Calgary, Alberta and a daughter: Cheryl Moberly from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother: Nick Czychowski (Olga); and a special: niece Julie.
Mom was predeceased by Dad: Russel Moberly; her parents: Taras and Helen Czychowski; her in-laws: George and Aurora Moberly; a sister: Marie; her brother: Bill; and sister-in-law: Edna Czychowski. Mom was also predeceased by her niece: Donna Czychowski; as well as her special friend: Hans Morken.
The family would like to thank the staff at Paradise Path, Herb Bassett Home. They are truly Angels. They provided Mom with loving care and always treated her with the utmost kindness. We cannot thank them enough. Also, we would like to thank the staff at MacKenzie Chapel for their kindness, patience and more patience, and professionalism. Cheers to Mom – our angel Dancing in the Sky. Donations in Nadia’s memory may be made to the Victoria Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 1200 24 St W, Prince Albert, SK S6V 4B2.
