December 21, 1924 – January 2, 2018
Mary passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital and now rests in the loving arms of God. She was born in Poland to Paul and Sophia Mishak. They moved to Canada in 1936 and settled in the Henribourg area. Mary met and married Joseph Linger and they raised three children, Helen, George and Debbie. After family moved to Prince Albert, Mary began her career in the food industry with the Sheraton Cavalier and later the Flamingo Motel as well as other restaurants. Upon retirement, Mary began her Volunteer Work at the Victoria Hospital. With over 1000 hours in 15 years of loyal and valuable service she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the PADHR. In 2005 Mary’s name was engraved on the Volunteer Tree at the Victoria Hospital and she was very proud of this accomplishment. Mary attended all of the special occasions of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Parkland Hall and the Heritage Centre where she spent many years dancing and playing cards. The friends Mary made over the years were special to her. Upon visiting her they could count on a lunch or fresh baked donuts. The grandkids loved her perogies and her famous “Gramma Burgers”. Her memory will be cherished by: her children: Helen (Ray) Jutras, George (Suzette) Linger and Debbie (Melvin) Smith; her grandchildren: Shauna (Curtis) Hubel, Chris Jutras, Warren (Cheryl) Smith, Andrea (Tyler) Linger, and Chad (Joanna) Linger; her great-grandchildren: Michael Hubel, Sara Hubel, Gabrielle Jutras, Sydney Smith, Ethan Roworth, Lauren Roworth, Bradley Linger and Ella Linger; her sister-in-law: Ruby (Tony) Horachek; her special friends: Genevieve Scherle, Elsie Kalyn and the Staff and Residents at Ika’s Care Home; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by: her husband: Joseph Linger in 1987; her parents: Paul and Sophia Mishak; her brothers: Russell, Jerry and Joe Mishak; her sister: Annie Holomechek; and her great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Cassandra. The family would like to thank Ika’s Care Home, Dr. Kriel, Dr. Painter and their staff and Victoria Hospital 5th floor staff for the exceptional care given to our Mother. As well, thank you to Father Tuyen Vu for his prayers and visits to Mom, and the St. Joseph’s Church Ministry. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Mary can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, 205 Horton St E, Suite 203, London, ON, N6B 1K7 or a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
