It is with great sadness that the family of Albert John Jones announces his peaceful passing on January 8, 2018, at the age of 86 with his family by his side. He is lovingly rembembered by his wife LaVerne (nee McWilliams); daughters, Rhonda Jones-Vedress (Brian) and Heather Patterson (Don); sons, Patric Jones (Bonnie) and Craig Jones (Sheila); grandchildren, Brynn (Mike), Mathew (Janel), Katy, Sarah (Branson), Ashley, Tana, Cassidy (Aaron) and Jaiden; great grandchildren, Kassidee, Maddy, Caleb, Mary and Hunter; and brother, Ray (Carol); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Albert was predeceased by his mother, Catherine; father, Robert; son, Bobby; granddaughter, Amber; sisters, Violet, Anne, Rose and Kelly; and brother, Bill. Albert was born on March 5, 1931, in Prince Albert, SK. He had many jobs in his young life including logging, iron working, mining, smoke jumping, firefighting and cat operating. He met the love of his life, LaVerne McWilliams of Sidney, Montana, while working in the United States as an iron worker. They married in May 1959 and settled in Saskatchewan. In 1963 he and LaVerne moved back to the Prince Albert – White Star area and he was a cattleman for the remainder of his life. He raised his family with a love of cattle and horses and passed on the opportunity to continue this passion to his children and grandchildren. He was strong, courageous and loving. We love you and will miss you forever. Albert’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert, SK, Father Matthew Nguyen officiating, with a lunch to follow. Internment will take place at the White Star Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104-2301 Avenue C North, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5.
