DEARING –William Edward “Ted”. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, Ted Dearing late of Weirdale, SK on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the age of 90 years. He was born July 16, 1927 at Kincaid, SK and the family moved north of Weirdale when he was 2 years of age. Ted graduated high school from the Niagara Christian College in Ontario in 1946. He was proud to have sung in the school choir which toured Ontario and some of northern United States. He then hitch hiked back to Saskatchewan to take over his grandfather’s homestead and start his dream, of the thing he loved most, ‘farming’. He married Iola Ruby “Toots” Kennedy of Weirdale on November 18, 1950. Ted was extremely active in the Weirdale Curling Club, Weirdale & District Lion’s club as well as volunteering where needed. He was given a Saskatchewan Volunteer Recognition Award of which he was very proud. Ted also worked on the oil rigs, in the forestry business, school bus driver, some office work and at other local businesses. Ted’s passion was visiting at the kitchen table with friends and family, his house was always full and welcome to everyone young or old. He was very proud of his family and their accomplishments, he was a gentle soul with a kind big heart, he touched the hearts of many people and will be dearly missed. Ted is survived by his children: Joan (John) Truba, Bruce (Sherry) Dearing, Sydney (Della) Dearing, Betty Glatley (Kelvin Balan), Victor Fredrick Dearing, Marie (Milton) Aiken, Marilyn Dearing (Travis Pistun), and Myrna (Clint) Roeddecke; his 20 grandchildren: his 21 great-grandchildren; his 3 great-great-grandchildren; his sisters: Leone (Morris) Sider and Irene (Henry) Mohr; his brother: Don (Janice) Dearing; his sister-in-law: Emily Dearing (Rick Hilts); as well as numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his loving wife after 60 years of marriage: Toots Dearing; his son: Samuel David Dearing; his parents: William and Leila (Longmore) Dearing; his sister and brother-in-law: Betty (Charlie) Elliott; his brother: Ken Dearing; a sister in infancy: Marilyn Jean Dearing; his parents-in-law: Fred and Mary (Anderson) Kennedy; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ethel (Harry) Davies, Tucker (Adelaide) McKay, Bill (Verna) Kennedy, twins Ray and Russell Kennedy, Jessie (Tom) Mann, and Cliff Kennedy; his nephews: Jim McKay, Bruce Mann, and Blair Elliott; and his niece: Susan Shelvey. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to North Haven Care Home, Box 220, Smeaton, SK, S0J 2J0 or to Mont St. Joseph Home, 777 28 St E, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 8C2. Our family would like to thank North Haven Care Home in Smeaton and Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert for the excellent care that our father Ted received while living in your homes. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 – 3:00 pm at MacKenzie Chapel, 130 9th St E, Prince Albert, SK. Interment in Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
