KEIR- Dorothea “Isabel” nee Jones

February 15, 1924 – December 2, 2017

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Isabel Keir passed away at 93 years of age on December 2, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK.  She was born February 15, 1924 in Langham, SK to Theodore and Gertrude Jones.  In 1932 the Jones family moved north to the Beaton district.  Being the eldest of six children Mom was a help to her mother and father with farm and household chores.  In February 1, 1945 Mom married Gordon Keir.  They honeymooned at a bush camp that winter – Mom cooking for dad and the men that were cutting logs.  In January of 1947 Mom and Dad moved to Paddockwood where dad was employed as a mechanic.  Mom was very actively involved in the community until she suffered a stroke at 76 years which forced her to move to Mitchell Place in Prince Albert in 2000.  As soon as time permitted Mom was again involved in activities and helping others in the home.  In 2014 Mom was a resident in Sunny Days Care Home for one year until moving to the Herb Bassett Care Home.  Mom will be greatly missed by all those she loved and who loved her.  Isabel is survived by two children, seven grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren:

She was predeceased by her husband Gordon (1979); son Les (2013); parents Theodore and Gertrude Jones; father and mother-in-law Thomas and Evelyn Keir; sisters and brothers-in-law Margaret (Garnet) Bird, Ethel (Earl) McLeod; a brother Allan (Sophie) Jones and sister-in-law Phyllis Beal and brother-in-law Bill Keir.  Many heartfelt thanks for the compassion and care Mom received at Sunny Days Care Home, Herb Bassett Care Home, ER, ICU and 5th floor staff at the Victoria Hospital.  A special thank you as well to her niece Ellen Jones for being a comfort to Mom.  Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas officiating.  Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be forwarded to the Herb Bassett Care Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
