Feb 21, 2019 | 11:21 AM

The La Ronge Ice Wolves board of directors decided not to renew Head Coach Evan Vossen’s contract for the 2019/2020 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season.

“The Ice Wolves would like to thank Evan Vossen for his hard work and dedication over the last two-and-a-half years,” President Grant Merriman stated in a press release. “The board felt that in fairness to our dedicated fans, sponsors, players and prospects that a fresh direction was needed.”

Assistant Coach Gaelen Patterson will take over as interim head coach for the remaining games this season, while Terry Hunt will step in as interim assistant coach. Travis Hegland will continue serving as the team’s athletic therapist and the club will begin recruitment for a new head coach as soon as the season in completed. The board also wishes Vossen the best of luck in his future endeavours and has no further comment at this time.
