One arrested following aggravated assault

Members of the La Loche RCMP detachment members received a call from a residence in the town of La Loche on June 2 at 6:08 a.m, regarding an assault that had taken place.

According to a release, one adult male had broken into a home and assaulted another adult male with a knife while the victim was sleeping in the home. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the face and upper torso, including part of his ear being cut off during the assault. The victim was later air lifted to Saskatoon for treatment.

The suspect fled the home after the assault and was arrested a short time later and held in custody until his first court appearance this morning.

Austin Lee Herman has been charged in connection with the incident with the following:

Aggravated assault, assault, assault with a weapon, break and enter to commit an indictable offence, fail to comply with judges undertaking, mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
