Possible soccer season in the works for tri-community children

While other organized sports have been cancelled since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, there’s still a chance for a short soccer season if there’s enough interest.
The Lac La Ronge Tri-Community Soccer Association is reaching out to the public to find out how many children between the ages of four to six would be interested in moving ahead with an altered season. If plans are successful, the season would begin around Aug. 31 and last until Sept. 30, as opposed to an eight-week regular season beginning in mid-August.
“I have a call with the Saskatchewan Soccer Association next week just to confirm a couple of things, so by mid-week next week, I will know if we are proceeding or not,” said Executive Member Thomas Sierzycki. “At that point, registration forms will follow and it will be advertised on social media to get parents involved in registering their kids.”
Sierzycki explained so far interest has been overwhelming, and if plans proceed, children will attend practice twice per week. There will be restrictions in place because of the coronavirus, however, such as limiting groups to 30, social distancing, sanitization and more.
