Professional artists coming to La Ronge to create snowy sculpture
Renowned Saskatoon-based snow artists Terry Ouellette and his wife Theressa Wright will be in La Ronge this month to create a frozen work of art.
“The sculpture will be located at Patterson Park,” said La Ronge Arts Council board member Andrea Cowan. “We’ve asked for a sculpture that celebrates the beauty of the North and are excited to see what the artists come up with.”
Cowan explained the project was made possible through a grant from the Community Initiatives Fund, noting La Ronge town council will be assisting with the location, materials and equipment needed to make it a success.
Creating the snow sculpture will require a large box of packed snow that will need to sit for a few days to take form. The artists, who will be in La Ronge from Feb. 26 to 28, will use a variety of tools to construct the snow sculpture.
